Aircraft Mechanic II/Sheet Metal Mechanic
About the role
This position is contingent on contract award. Location: Fairchild AFB WA and CONUS/OCONUS travel. This is a non-exempt service employee classification. Overtime and paid time off will be administered in accordance with federal SCA standards and the prime contract stipulations.
Responsibilities
- Performs structural maintenance, sheet metal layout, drilling, riveting, and assembly fitting.
- Inspects, troubleshoots, and modifies aircraft skins, bulkheads, frames and stringers.
- Identifies, treats, and removes metal corrosion using chemical and mechanical tools.
- Reads and interprets complex blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical orders.
- Documents all maintenance actions and complete entries in official aircraft logs.
- Ability to travel CONUS/OCONUS
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be a US citizen with a valid Driver's License.
- Must have an active Secret Clearance.
- Must have a valid passport.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of direct aircraft maintenance experience, with preference for prior work on Air Force wide-body platforms, preferably KC-135) or equivalent.
- Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) licenses is preferred.
- Must be able to work any shift, weekends, holidays and overtime.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
The working conditions require the ability to work in tight and high spaces, and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE). This position must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. as well as have the ability to sit or stand for long periods of time. Physical requirements of the position may also include, but are not limited to, bending, twisting, and lifting and climbing.
Pay and Benefits
Rate: $30-40/hourly. A health and welfare fringe benefit allowance of $5.09 per hour up to 40 hours per week will be provided in addition to the base hourly rate. R2C offers comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance options. Additionally, 401(k) and Roth 401(k) are available.
