Aircraft Maintenance Technician

About the Role

The Aircraft Maintenance Technician (AMT) is a critical TechOps role at Delta, responsible for maintaining the proper and safe functioning of Delta’s fleet to ensure customers have an exceptional travel experience. AMTs work on aircraft, engines, components, and avionics systems according to Delta and FAA specifications, perform inspections, document maintenance procedures, and practice safety-conscious behaviors.

Responsibilities

• Perform all work activities in accordance with established laws, regulations, standards, safety protocols, and procedures.
• Inspect aircraft or aircraft components (e.g., landing gear, hydraulic systems, tires, engines) for damage, defects, corrosion, or wear to ensure airworthiness.
• Recommend replacement, repair, or modification of aircraft equipment based on inspection.
• Install, remove, or modify aircraft structures, systems, or components following technical documentation.
• Repair worn or defective parts using hand tools, gauges, and testing equipment.
• Inspect completed work to certify maintenance adherence to standards and aircraft readiness.
• Troubleshoot issues by interpreting discrepancies, logs, and technical manuals.
• Review maintenance records to ensure compliance with service intervals.
• Maintain repair logs documenting preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
• Serve as a technical expert or mentor, providing advice and recommendations.
• Use computer systems to document, access, and communicate information.
• Participate in continuous learning and skill development (e.g., initial schools, taxi qualifications).

Qualifications

• FAA Airframe and Power Plant license.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to pass a background check, fingerprint-based criminal history records check, and DOT pre-employment drug screen.
• Proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English.
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• At least 18 years of age with authorization to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications

• One year of full-time work experience.
• Prior military experience.
• Experience in the airline industry.
• Current Delta employee status.
• One year of mechanical experience (outside education).
• One year of aircraft maintenance experience (outside education).
• One year of heavy jet maintenance experience (outside education).
• Prior electronics/avionics experience or FCC license.
