About the role
As an Aircraft Maintenance Technician at West Star, you will perform a variety of mechanical tasks on some of the most sophisticated civilian aircraft in the world. No two days are the same—each brings new experiences and opportunities for growth.
Responsibilities
- Perform general mechanical tasks on aircraft and related systems
- Removal and installation of panels and components
- Troubleshoot and problem-solve aircraft system/component issues
- De-fueling aircraft
- Engine removal and installations
- Operate ground support equipment
- Inspect and evaluate aircraft and components
- Assist in aircraft movement, performance runs, and taxiing
- Maintain and repair shop facility, equipment, and tooling
- Use basic computer skills to navigate electronic training, manuals, and maintenance databases
- Communicate effectively in English (speaking, writing, reading)
- Perform any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor or management
Requirements
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport (ideal but not mandatory)
Experience & Licenses
- AMT I: Airframe or Powerplant license required (Airframe preferred). 0-2 years of experience in aviation maintenance, avionics, or similar. Limited to moderate knowledge of general maintenance; requires close supervision.
- AMT II: Airframe or Powerplant license required (Airframe preferred). 2-4 years of experience in aviation maintenance. Experience on corporate aircraft preferred but not essential. Considerable knowledge of general maintenance; requires general supervision for routine tasks and detailed instruction for new assignments.
- AMT III: Airframe license required; Powerplant license highly preferred. 4-6+ years of experience in aviation maintenance. Experience on corporate aircraft highly preferred. Full knowledge of general, detailed, and special assignments.
- AMT IV (Master): Airframe and Powerplant license required. 6+ years of experience in aviation maintenance with extensive experience on corporate aircraft platforms. Subject matter expert in all areas of the job.
Initiative & Responsibility
- Self-motivated team player able to perform in a fast-paced environment with specific deadlines and time constraints
- Attend work as scheduled, including overtime and weekend assignments
- Notify supervisor in advance if unable to work a shift
- Reliable transportation to and from work
- Perform all work in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) guidelines
- Follow all company and safety rules
- Maintain customer-oriented work habits
Physical Requirements
- Lift up to 50 lbs
- Routine walking, bending, squatting, or sitting
- Repetitive physical motion with arms and hands
- Climb ladders and stairs; work in small, restricted areas
- Stand for long periods of time
Mental Requirements
- Understand and implement regulations and guidelines
- Troubleshoot or evaluate system operation
- Work professionally with others
Supervision & Working Conditions
- Work under the supervision of a Team Leader and Director of Maintenance
- May supervise other technicians in some capacity
- Work performed in a hangar environment with extreme temperature variations (very cold to very hot)
- Occasional work outside during aircraft runs
- Varied positions in and around the aircraft

- Personal hand tools (supplied by the mechanic)
- Pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical equipment
- Jacks, stands, lifts, and other support devices
- Tugs, power carts, and other engine-powered equipment
