About the role
The Air Quality Technician (AQT) Journeyman is responsible for daily maintenance and repair of campus HVAC and refrigeration equipment including related preventive maintenance. The incumbent supports the department's mission to ensure buildings and equipment operate as true assets in support of university and individual career goals.
Responsibilities
- Meet work schedules and service requests
- Provide effective and efficient maintenance workmanship and leadership
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent GED
- Department of Labor or equivalent journeyman AQT certificate or associate degree and four (4) or more years related experience
- Maintain a valid driver’s license and be insurable under UToledo driving policies
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., work with hands, and work with close tolerance
- Ability to climb ladders and stairs
- Knowledge and skill in leadership, HVAC & refrigeration technology, blueprint reading, electrical wiring schematics, regulations, codes, mathematics, HVAC and refrigeration repairs and installation, hand and power tool operation
- The ability to work cooperatively with others, solve technical problems, read technical documents, and work with dexterity
- An understanding of building layout, terminology, and university policy and procedures to be obtained post hire

- Verbal skills to communicate with staff, patients, family members, and management
- Verbal skills to communicate with other trades and work control
