About the role

The Army Navy Business Group is seeking a Fleet Synthetic Training (FST) Program Support Training Analyst to serve as a subject matter expert (SME) at Tactical Training Group Atlantic (TTGL), Virginia Beach, Virginia. The ideal candidate will be a senior trainer/evaluator with experience in naval fleet synthetic training development, execution, and evaluation, as well as simulation program operation. The role requires coordination and support for Joint Integrated Air Defense, Air Operations Center (AOC), and/or Combined Air Operations Center (CAOC) tasking during FST events.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expertise and support on applicable tactical and operational-level joint, coalition, and service doctrine for synthetic war game scenario generation.
  • Review applicable Combatant Commander (CCDR) and theater-specific contingency plans and operational plans (OPLANs).
  • Function as an academic instructor in assigned warfare area(s).
  • Assist the Joint Exercise Control Group (JECG) in developing scenarios, road-to-crisis narratives, operational environments, and storylines to meet commander’s training objectives.
  • Utilize the Master Scenario Event List (MSEL) tool to track synthetic war game storylines and daily events.
  • Understand the role of response cells and replication of subordinate units.
  • Develop collection plans to support Observer/Trainers (O/T) in preparing After Action Reports (AAR) and daily summary reports.
  • Participate in AAR development based on observations of the training audience during exercise execution.
  • Assist in developing and executing warfare training curricula using synthetic war gaming software (e.g., Joint Semi-Automated Forces [JSAF], Marine Tactical Warfare Simulation [MTWS]) for events such as FST-GC/J/S, BMDEX, SLAMEX/TLAMEX, Navy USW Training Assessment Course (NUWTAC), Large Scale Exercise (LSE), TFCC trainers, and academic courses.
  • Provide expertise in combat mission areas (IAMD, SUW, ASW, strike, IO, intelligence) with operational and technical acumen for training, mentoring, and assessing training audiences, including carrier strike group (CSG), expeditionary strike group (ESG), and ARG staffs, and independent deployers (ID).
  • Oversee the development of exercise documents, including manning documents, messages, and orders (e.g., OPORDs, exercise directives, game books).
  • Provide expert oversight for white cell elements of synthetic training events and support live events as required.
  • Assist in developing synthetic exercise injects to enable accomplishment of training objectives for synthetic and live events.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship with an active Secret clearance and the ability to obtain TS/SCI.
  • Bachelor of Arts or Science degree (or 4 additional years of experience in lieu of degree).
  • Active military duty experience, including recent experience in instruction/training at the senior enlisted or mid-grade officer level or higher.
  • Six (6) years of general training SME and functional area experience.
  • Five (5) years of senior trainer/evaluator experience.
  • Proven written and verbal communication skills at the junior management and senior executive level, with the ability to act independently.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (e.g., PowerPoint).

Qualifications (Preferred)

  • Experience as a Tactical Warfare Modeling and Simulation Systems operator (e.g., JSAF, JAWS).
  • Recent experience in joint and naval exercises, war gaming, and exercise/event planning.
  • Joint Force Air Component Command (JFACC)/Naval Aviation Liaison Element (NALE) staff experience (U.S. Navy).
  • Experience in basic setup of networked computers, Voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP) phones, and audio/video systems.
  • Familiarity with the Navy Composite Warfare Commander (CWC) concept, Fleet Training policy documents (e.g., Fleet Response Training Plan [FRTP], Fleet Training Continuum [FTC]), and Type Commander Training and Readiness manuals.

Pay

Target salary range: $80,001 – $120,000, based on experience.
