About the role

This posting is for a Santa Clara, California-based New Product (NPI) instructor. This position is a combination technical instructor and technical expert role on existing and new products. The position is embedded in the business unit (BU) in Gloucester to learn new PLC/NPI products (e.g., new chambers, mainframes, and tools), gain experience on startup and sustaining production tasks, and develop/deliver initial classroom and hands-on training. Once the tool transitions to volume production, the NPI instructor trains the volume instructor, who then assumes training ownership.

Due to the scheduling of PLC/NPI product development, the NPI instructor will often manage multiple new tools/chambers simultaneously, requiring project management, training/presentation experience, and technical expertise in semiconductor equipment.

Time allocation:

• ~45% learning the new tool, gaining knowledge (mechanical, electrical, software, process), and developing course materials
• ~35% delivering training or coordinating structured factory OJT
• ~20% other activities

Responsibilities

• Conduct semiconductor equipment training needs assessments by gathering information on work procedures, workflow, and functional knowledge from experts; maintain product technical knowledge to prepare and present defined product courses; disseminate new information to training and business unit staff.
• Communicate with product groups to obtain current product information for course updates; manage multiple projects of diverse scope and complexity; direct project team members.
• Represent AGS TS at divisional meetings, external conferences, and industry task force activities.
• Determine system utilization requirements through research and testing.
• Utilize Technical Publications and System Product Business Groups to maximize technical documentation efficiencies; develop customized training materials per customer needs; train others in standard course development processes (Instructional System Design).
• Lead NPI training development projects with minimal support; develop hardware training student guides using desktop publishing tools (PowerPoint, Word); revise and edit final copy.
• Maintain a safe and healthy training environment by adhering to organization standards and legal regulations; provide technical expertise and troubleshooting for system repairs.
• Present technical training in-house and at customer sites; conduct classroom and hands-on learning; manage classroom/lab activities to fulfill course objectives; ensure safety procedures are followed.
• Evaluate training effectiveness for specific job applications; provide coaching and leadership to other instructors; mentor less senior instructors.
• Ensure equipment operation by completing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting malfunctions, and evaluating new equipment/techniques.
• Maintain quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards; analyze customer issues/needs to determine future training opportunities.
• Maintain technical and instructional knowledge through workshops, publications, etc.
• Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed; requires domestic and international travel (up to 40%).

Requirements

Tool-Specific Required Experience: CMP

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, education, or training plus 4 years of professional semiconductor equipment experience in installation, programming, safety, maintenance, operation, troubleshooting, and repair of semiconductor machinery (e.g., robots, programmable controllers, power supplies, pneumatics, vacuum systems, power distributions, high voltage/current systems, robot controllers). Experience must include following manuals, specifications, blueprints, and schematics, and using hand tools, measuring instruments, and testing equipment.
• If no bachelor’s degree, 6 years of professional semiconductor equipment experience is required.
• 2 years of formal or informal experience in education, performance-based training, or training/presentation delivery to external customers (required to attain FKA Instructional Developer certification within the first year).
• Preferred: Nationally recognized certification in “Instructional Design” or 2 years of formal/informal experience in curriculum development and/or instructional design.

• Semiconductor equipment skills: operations, preventive/corrective maintenance, alignments, calibrations, and system-level troubleshooting of analog/digital electronics.
• Knowledge of MS Windows applications and computer networking (a plus).
• Experience in e-Learning, videography, and photography (a plus).

Pay

Salary range: $115,000.00 - $158,500.00. The salary offered will be based on location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for participation in a bonus and stock award program.

Schedule

Full-time. Requires travel (up to 40%, domestic and international) and may include off-shift/weekend assignments. Relocation eligible.
