Key Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostics, service, and repairs on agricultural machinery, with emphasis on self-propelled forage harvesters and related systems.
- Work confidently with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and AMS technologies.
- Complete all job cards, DTAC cases, timesheets, and admin accurately and on time.
- Deliver “right-first-time” repairs to maintain customer satisfaction and departmental performance.
- Carry out field-based diagnostics and repairs when required.
- Advise customers on machine optimisation and deliver on-farm training sessions.
- Promote JDLink, Technology, and other value-added services.
- Perform pre-delivery inspections, setups, and quality control checks.
- Liaise with manufacturers and specialists on complex technical repairs.
- Lead by example in Health & Safety, compliance and housekeeping.
- Support training of apprentices and junior technicians, with potential to mentor your own trainee.
- Maintain professional standards at all times when representing Ripon and John Deere.
Skills & Qualifications
- 4+ years’ experience performing service, diagnostics, and repairs on agricultural machinery.
- Strong, proven background with self-propelled forage harvesters (preferred but not essential as full training will be provided).
- Certification in Land-based Service Engineering Technician (Level 3) or equivalent.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills with a positive, proactive attitude.
- Strong ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Full UK driving licence essential.
- Ability to work extra hours, weekends, or at short notice when required.
- Comfortable using different computer systems, manufacturer bulletins, online systems, and technical documentation.
