Job Summary
Directs and manages overall daily operations of the designated afterschool program with the primary concern for programming/clubs and service delivery, supervision and training of staff, facilities management, budgets, membership administration, and serving healthy snacks.
KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities)
- Prepare Youth for Success Plan And Oversee High-quality Programs And Clubs That Support Youth Development Outcomes Of Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles, And Developing Strong Character To Make a Difference In The Community
- Oversee day-to-day programming and systems in accordance with established standards and grant goals.
- Oversees provision of guidance services to members to assist them to fulfill and make appropriate choices in educational, personal, physical, social, emotional, vocational needs and provide a safe and positive environment for members.
- Demonstrates leadership to assure conduct, physical and emotional safety and development of members through adhering to all policies and procedures and providing proper supervision.
- Maintains membership records, daily attendance, and club registration, grant records.
- Ensure the evaluation of Club programs on a continual basis and ensures programs/clubs respond to member needs and address their gender and cultural diversity.
School-day Site Director - Additional Responsibilities
- Provide in-person training and support to at-risk students during the school day, as guided by school administrators and counselors.
- Clock in/out staff and complete evaluations.
- Coordinate weekly with school administrators and teachers to discuss and assign topics for school-day sessions, assignments, delivery methods, and attendance tracking.
- Develop and implement a school-day schedule for social skills sessions that meets grant requirements, ensuring one hour of approved social skills sessions or social skills-enriched activities each week throughout the entire school year.
- Record daily school-day program attendance using the BGC attendance tracker.
- Ensure that all participants in the school day complete social skills assessments each quarter during the school year and compile the assessment data.
Internal Relationships
Maintains close, daily contact with Club staff (professional and volunteer), Club members, and supervisor to receive/provide information, explain guidelines/ instructions; instruct; and advise/counsel.
External Relationships
Maintains contact with external community groups, schools, members' parents, and others to assist in resolving concerns.
Required Skills/Knowledge
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college/university or equivalent experience or NAC and Career Ladder experience (must be acquired within 6 months of employment).
- Knowledge of youth development.
- Ability to motivate staff & youth and manage behavior concerns.
- Ability to communicate effectively with the school and general public.
- Ability to plan and implement quality programs for youth.
- Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment.
- CPR/First Aid Certification and Food Handler's Permit (will be provided by employer if not already obtained within the first three months)
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and to develop solutions to concerns with limited supervision
- Valid State Driver's License (Required for sites with BGC vehicles)
Preferred Requirements
- A minimum of one year experience working with children (ages 5 - 18) in a youth serving environment or similar
- Proficient in Google Suite and general computing skills
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written
- Must be able to lift 25-50 pounds
