After School Teacher Assistant - POOL
About the role
The After School Teacher Assistant participates in learning activities with the children in a supportive and nurturing environment that promotes child learning, self-awareness, and growing independence. Through the application of a consistent and positive approach, the Teacher Assistant assists children in controlling behaviors and encourages the development of appropriate social and interactive skills. The Teacher Assistant collaborates with other members of the teaching team to achieve the program's educational objectives.
Responsibilities
- Assists in learning activities with children in a supportive and nurturing environment.
- Aids in controlling behaviors and encouraging appropriate social and interactive skills.
- Collaborates with the teaching team to achieve program educational objectives.
- Communicates with teachers to provide information and suggestions about the child's health, behavior, and learning development.
- Provides high-level customer service to parents, supporting program goals.
- Supports the food program by assisting with food preparation, distribution, and record-keeping.
- Assists in delivering learning programs as a substitute teacher assistant, ensuring the achievement of established objectives.
- Maintains effective communication with parents to support program goals.
- Works collaboratively as a member of the teaching team.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required, or High School senior if at least 18 years old.
- The ability to read, write, and understand English is required.
- American Heart Association BLS and HSFA (Heart Saver First Aid) certification required within 90 days of hire or transfer.
- Prior work experiences within a child care setting or some child development courses preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills required.
- The ability to work collaboratively as a member of the teaching team.
