After School Sports Program Instuctor

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead exciting, organized, and age-appropriate Sports Spectacular classes and camps.
  • Teach the fundamentals of a variety of sports including soccer, basketball, football, baseball, floor hockey, volleyball, kickball, tennis, lacrosse, and many others.
  • Create a positive, non-competitive environment where every child is encouraged to participate and succeed.
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm, patience, and encouragement while building children's confidence and self-esteem.
  • Arrive prepared with lesson plans and all necessary equipment.
  • Set up and break down equipment before and after each program.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants at all times.
  • Use positive behavior management techniques to keep children engaged and focused.
  • Adapt activities to meet different ages, skill levels, and abilities.
  • Communicate professionally with school staff, parents, recreation personnel, and fellow instructors.

Qualifications

  • Passion for working with children.
  • Energetic, positive, and enthusiastic personality.
  • Reliable, punctual, and dependable.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of multiple sports and basic athletic skills.
  • Experience coaching, teaching, camp counseling, or working with youth is preferred.
  • Able to lead groups of children in an organized and engaging manner.
  • Must successfully pass required background checks.
  • CPR and First Aid certification are a plus.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, run, bend, lift, and actively participate throughout each class.
  • Ability to lift and carry sports equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to demonstrate sports skills and maintain an active pace for up to 60–90 minutes.
