After School Program Instructor
Location: Elementary Schools in Gaithersburg and Rockville Area
About the role
We are seeking an enthusiastic, dependable, and engaging After School Program Instructor to join our team. The instructor will provide a safe, supportive, and fun environment for elementary school students during after-school hours (3-6 pm). The ideal candidate enjoys working with children, is energetic and creative, and can lead age-appropriate activities while maintaining a positive and well-managed classroom environment.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and engage students during the after-school program.
- Plan and lead educational, recreational, arts and science enrichment activities.
- Create a welcoming and inclusive environment where students feel safe and encouraged.
- Maintain appropriate classroom and behavior-management expectations.
- Communicate professionally with parents, guardians, teachers, and program staff.
- Monitor student safety and follow all program policies and procedures.
- Prepare and organize materials and activity areas.
- Participate in special events, themed activities, and program projects.
- Complete required attendance, incident, and other program documentation.
Requirements
- Previous experience working with children is preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework or a degree in education, child development, recreation, or a related field is a plus.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lead groups of children and maintain a positive learning environment.
- Dependable, patient, energetic, and responsible.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- CPR/First Aid certification is preferred or willingness to obtain certification.
- Must meet applicable background-check and child-safety requirements.

Pay
$18.00 - $22.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications
Schedule
Afternoons/Monday–Friday, during the school year (3-6 pm)

Children get messy with paint, clay, and so much more! Specializing in children's art classes, camps, and art-themed birthday parties, Kidcreate Studio is an art studio just for kids. At Kidcreate Studio, children will create fridge-worthy masterpieces, learn art concepts, and experiment with many different art materials. Weekly classes, camps, workshops and homeschool classes are age-specific and are tailored to provide each student with the curriculum that suits them best.
