AFCENT NOSC Lead Engineer sought to provide senior technical leadership, engineering oversight, and operational support for enterprise network and server-related services across the AFCENT mission environment. This role guides engineering teams responsible for operating and integrating OS, Active Directory, messaging, DNS, storage, database, virtualization, boundary systems, patch management, and future enterprise services while analyzing network performance, identifying trends, and recommending solutions to improve reliability, security, and mission effectiveness.

AFCENT’s mission is to deliver combat-ready air, space, communications, and cyberspace capability for USCENTCOM, helping maintain security and stability throughout Southwest Asia. The AFCENT NOSC program focuses on running and protecting a 24/7 enterprise network and systems operations, including cybersecurity, engineering, maintenance, and technical support, ensuring the AFCENT’s theater communications and IT infrastructure remains ready, secure, and available.

Responsibilities

  • Support and integrate new and existing OS, Active Directory, Messaging, DNS, Storage, Database, and other server-related/future services.
  • Provide technical direction and management oversight for Enterprise Database Administrator, Boundary Systems, Enterprise Patch Management Systems, Directory Services Systems, and Storage and Virtualization Systems engineering/technical staff.
  • Analyze networking metrics and recognize substandard network performance.
  • Develop reports and trend analysis documentation on bandwidth and network security incidents.
  • Make expert decisions and recommendations to resolve, improve, or prevent network problems/issues.
  • Manage network intrusion devices specific to the Department of Defense as well as commercial information assurance tools, including Certification Authority (CA) and various Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), both software and hardware.
  • Develop and update IT systems concept of operations and engineering plans.
  • Provide general IT management, networking (LAN/WAN), and enterprise support.
  • Deliver general O&M support as required.
  • Provide documentation, reports, meetings/briefings, and functional training support.
  • Support CONUS/OCONUS deployment and TDY travel as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 5+ years of relevant IT experience (preferred), or 7+ years of relevant IT experience.
  • Experience with firewalls, Unix/Linux, and HBSS.
  • Knowledge of network threats and skill in providing feedback to enhance future collection and analysis.
  • Experience installing Microsoft Windows Server in host and compute environments, and using server images.
  • Experience implementing storage solutions, high availability, DNS, DHCP, network connectivity, remote access solutions, core and distributed network solutions, advanced network infrastructure, and maintaining/monitoring server environments.
  • Experience managing Microsoft users and permissions, creating Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS) forests, designing server infrastructure, troubleshooting, protecting network and user data.

Qualifications

  • VCTA or VMWare experience.
  • CCNA or Network+ certification.
  • ITIL Foundation certification (candidate has up to 60 days to acquire).
  • Active TS/SCI clearance required.
