Aerospace Assembly Technician
About the Role
Urban Sky manufactures one-of-a-kind stratospheric balloons from start to finish. These balloons are made of a unique airtight material and involve long continuous seams. Making balloons involves patterning, seaming, adhesive bonds and some light mechanical work adjoining rigid fittings to the balloons. The balloons are very lightweight and relatively small compared to other stratospheric balloons, but quite large when compared with things like clothing and outdoor equipment.
In this job the candidate would be responsible for following detailed work instructions, blueprints and build documentation. The systems the candidate builds would go on to be used in high altitude stratospheric flights. In addition to building balloons the candidate will periodically be required to help with other manufacturing tasks such as assembling test equipment, operating test equipment, general shop upkeep, cleaning and maintenance.
