Our Rhode Island Advocacy Team is seeking a creative, detail-oriented, results-driven student passionate about fostering social impact change. This paid internship offers an exciting opportunity to work with and learn from a great team of professionals.
Responsibilities
- Apply innovative thinking and problem-solving to challenges
- Contribute to testimony creation and write-up of research findings
- Support Voter Engagement efforts for the 2026 State and Federal elections li>Communicate with and support AARP-RI volunteers in their role as part of our Advocacy Team
- Research policy issues, draft documents to support our advocacy efforts, participate in team meetings and strategy discussions, collaborate in communications tactics, and engage in support for various remote and in-person events
- Support Advocacy volunteers in their work
Qualifications
- Must be enrolled in a degree program at an accredited college/university, rising undergraduate juniors or seniors, graduate students, or post-doctoral students, and remain academically enrolled throughout the internship
- Excellent written, oral, and digital communication skills, with the ability to work well with people of all ages and backgrounds
- Ability to manage multiple projects, anticipate project needs, and discern work priorities
- Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, especially Microsoft Excel
- Self-starter with the ability to adapt and work under tight deadlines

Work Environment
AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as remote workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work can only be done within the United States and its territories.
Compensation
The hourly range is $18 for undergraduates, $21 for graduate students, and $28 for Ph.D. candidates. Internships are non-exempt positions and are not eligible for employee benefits.
