Advanced Practice Provider (Per Diem) - Orthopedics - RCMC-25144

Location: Aurora, Illinois – Rush Copley Medical Center, part of the Rush University System for Health network of hospitals.

About the role

The Per Diem Orthopedics Advanced Practice Provider (Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner) works collaboratively with supervising orthopedic surgeons and the departmental team to provide comprehensive, high-quality care to orthopedic patients. This position primarily covers supplemental staffing needs, including weekend coverage, vacation coverage, and support during high census periods, across inpatient, outpatient, and operative settings.

The department consists of 11 Advanced Practice Providers and 11 physicians.

Rush has over 600 APPs across the enterprise, supported by four levels of leadership, including 39 Lead APPs, three chief CRNAs, and a Senior Director of Advanced Practice Providers. Rush’s vision is to have every APP practicing at full scope and top of license.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive, high-quality care to orthopedic patients in collaboration with supervising orthopedic surgeons.
• Cover supplemental staffing needs, including weekend coverage, vacation coverage, and high census periods.
• Work across inpatient, outpatient, and operative settings.
• Promote collaboration between multiple disciplines to ensure cost-effective and quality patient care.
• Adhere to Rush mission, vision, and values, and act in accordance with Rush policies, procedures, and guidelines.

Qualifications

Nurse Practitioner

• Current licensure from the State of Illinois as a Registered Professional Nurse and Advanced Practice Nurse, or eligible to obtain licensure through the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR).
• Master of Science in Nursing or Doctorate of Nursing Practice with clinical specialty appropriate to the position.
• Current certification by American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC) or American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).
• CPR, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
• Acute Care Certification required for inpatient work.
• Acute Care Certification and First Assistant Certification required for work in the OR.

Physician Assistant

• Current licensure from the State of Illinois as a Physician Assistant/Associate, or eligible to obtain licensure through the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR).
• Successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant/Associate Program.
• Current certification from National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
• CPR, ACLS, and PALS certifications.

Pay

Pay range: $75.00 per hour for this part-time, per diem role. The total pay range reflects factors such as specialty, relevant experience, training, and other business and organizational considerations. Additional compensation may include premium pay rates, sign-on bonuses, and relocation allowances.
