Advanced Practice Provider - Per Diem
About the Role
Provides evaluation, treatment, and management of acute and chronic phases of illness in patients at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center. Responsibilities include assessment of physical symptoms, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, developing treatment plans, and prescribing medications. Offers continued care throughout the patient’s medical journey. Educates and mentors Advanced Practice Provider I and additional clinical staff, including nursing, residents, fellows, and other healthcare interns and students.
This is a per diem, part-time position with variable hours (approximately 8 hours per week, FTE 0.2). Characterized by short, unscheduled notice for reporting duty, temporary appointments, and non-benefit earning status. This posting identifies qualified candidates for potential temporary opportunities across the organization. Requirements
- License to practice as a Registered Nurse in New York State or license to practice as a Physician Assistant in New York State.
- For Nurse Practitioners: Current New York State Nurse Practitioner certification; certification or eligibility for certification as a Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center or other national certifying body recognized by HCFA; Master’s or higher-level degree in Nursing. Certification must be obtained within nine months of appointment.
- For Physician Assistants: Certification as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission for Certification of Physicians Assistants (NCCPA) or other national certifying body recognized by the New York State Education Department; Bachelor’s or higher-level degree in Physician Assistant Studies, or Bachelor’s or higher-level degree and completion of a Physician Assistant Certificate Program recognized by the New York State Education Department.
- Two years of full-time progressively responsible Advanced Practice Provider experience in a service line at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center or a comparable cancer care or acute care facility.
- Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) must be obtained within six months of appointment.
- Degrees must be conferred by an accredited institution or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center and/or Health Research Incorporated as adhering to acceptable educational standards.
