Advanced Practice Nurse/Physician Assistant HOPE Per Diem

About the role

The role supports comprehensive care across the continuum—from high-risk assessment and diagnostic workup to treatment, survivorship, and long-term follow-up. The ideal candidate brings clinical expertise, patient-centered communication, and a commitment to evidence-based oncology practice.

What your day will look like

• Determines and prioritizes patient care needs.
• Determines and prioritizes diagnoses from the assessment data using appropriate complex clinical reasoning.
• Performs or implements interventions and treatments with knowledge of health care research findings and reflecting a scientific basis and theory.
• Orders, performs, and interprets laboratory tests.
• Selects and performs tests and therapeutic procedures for the patient as necessary, adhering to scope of practice guidelines and program area's curriculum.
• Prescribes drugs as necessary as appropriate for the Hematology/Oncology office in accordance with state and federal law.
• Provides preventive care and diagnosis and treatment of episodic, short-term and stable chronic hematologic/oncologic problems.
• Identifies educational needs of patients and families and collaborates with other members of the multidisciplinary patient care team to develop programs and materials for team members, patient/family and the community.
• Completes patient care milestones and education such as Chemo talks, Survivorship and Geriatric Assessment as defined by disease specific NCCN guidelines.

Qualifications

• All Candidates:
  • 1-2 year's recent clinical experience in area of expertise preferred; could be 1-2 years in women's health or familiar with breast oncology patients.
  • Previous leadership/teaching experience preferred.
  • DEA and NJ CDS registration.
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification.
• Advanced Practice Nurse:
  • Master's Degree in Nursing required.
  • Master's or Doctorate degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
  • Current New Jersey Professional Nurse License.
  • Current Nurse Practitioner License - Board Certification required.
  • ONS Chemo/Bio Certification within 3 months of hire required.
• Physician Assistant:
  • Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
  • Current NJ Physician Assistant License.
  • Current National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) Certification.
