Advanced Practice Nurse/Physician Assistant HOPE Per Diem

The role supports comprehensive care across the continuum—from high-risk assessment and diagnostic workup to treatment, survivorship, and long-term follow-up. The ideal candidate brings clinical expertise, patient-centered communication, and a commitment to evidence-based oncology practice.
What your day will look like
- Determines and prioritizes patient care needs.
- Determines and prioritizes diagnoses from the assessment data using appropriate complex clinical reasoning.
- Performs or implements interventions and treatments with knowledge of health care research findings and reflecting a scientific basis and theory.
- Orders, performs, and interprets laboratory tests.
- Selects and performs tests and therapeutic procedures for the patient as necessary, adhering to scope of practice guidelines and program area's curriculum.
- Prescribes drugs as necessary as appropriate for the Hematology/Oncology office in accordance with state and federal law.
- Provides preventive care and diagnosis and treatment of episodic, short-term and stable chronic hematologic/oncologic problems.
- Identifies educational needs of patients and families and collaborates with other members of the multidisciplinary patient care team to develop programs and materials for team members, patient/family and the community.
- Completes patient care milestones and education such as Chemo talks, Survivorship and Geriatric Assessment as defined by disease specific NCCN guidelines.
Qualifications
- All Candidates:
- 1-2 year's recent clinical experience in area of expertise preferred; could be 1-2 years in women's health or familiar with breast oncology patients.
- Previous leadership/teaching experience preferred.
- DEA and NJ CDS registration.
- Current BLS and ACLS certification.
- Advanced Practice Nurse:
- Master's Degree in Nursing required.
- Master's or Doctorate degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
- Current New Jersey Professional Nurse License.
- Current Nurse Practitioner License - Board Certification required.
- ONS Chemo/Bio Certification within 3 months of hire required.
- Physician Assistant:
- Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
- Current NJ Physician Assistant License.
- Current National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) Certification.
