About the role
The team includes 8 providers, 8 APNs, and 52 ancillary staff. You will provide dedicated support across 3 oncology floors within the hospital. Flexible hours - 1-2 days a week, 3/6/8 hours in a day.
Responsibilities
- Determines and prioritizes patient care needs.
- Determines and prioritizes diagnoses from the assessment data using appropriate complex clinical reasoning.
- Performs or implements interventions and treatments with knowledge of health care research findings and reflecting a scientific basis and theory.
- Orders, performs and interprets laboratory tests.
- Selects and performs tests and therapeutic procedures for the patient as necessary, adhering to scope of practice guidelines and program area's curriculum.
- Prescribes drugs as necessary as appropriate for the Hematology/Oncology office in accordance with state and federal law.
- Provides preventive care and diagnosis and treatment of episodic, short-term and stable chronic hematologic/oncologic problems.
- Identifies educational needs of patients and families and collaborates with other members of the multidisciplinary patient care team to develop programs and materials for team members, patient/family and the community.
- Completes patient care milestones and education such as Chemo talks, Survivorship and Geriatric Assessment as defined by disease specific NCCN guidelines.
Qualifications
- All Candidates: 1-2 year's recent clinical experience in area of expertise preferred; could be 1-2 years in women's health or familiar with breast oncology patients; Previous leadership/teaching experience preferred; DEA and NJ CDS registration; Current BLS and ACLS certification.
- Advanced Practice Nurse: Master's Degree in Nursing required; Master's or Doctorate degree in Nursing from an accredited program; Current New Jersey Professional Nurse License; Current Nurse Practitioner License - Board Certification required; ONS Chemo/Bio Certification within 3 months of hire required.
- Physician Assistant: Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program; Current NJ Physician Assistant License; Current National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) Certification.
