Responsibilities
- Provides direct patient care as the Center's Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner according to established protocols, policies, procedures, and accepted standards of care.
- Follows established nursing standards, procedures, and practices, and gives specific patient care directions to nursing and other staff.
- PARTNERS WITH ATTENDING TO PROVIDE NIGHT SHIFT MEDICAL AND SURGICAL MANAGEMENT FOR CRITICAL-CARE SERVICE.
- Critical-care duties include managing the comprehensive care of acutely and chronically critically ill or injured adult patients in collaboration with the intensivist physician on duty (or on-call).
- Advanced skills of comprehensive airway management
- Invasive procedures to include central lines, arterial lines, tube thoracostomy, dialysis catheters
- Selects, implements, manages, and titrates vasoactive drugs, insulin infusions, sedation, and analgesia.
Qualifications
- Completion of an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program approved by the ANCC or AANP or Physician Associate.
- MUST HOLD CURRENT LICENSE AS A REGISTERED NURSE OR PHYSICIAN ASSOCIATE IN THE STATE OF DELAWARE, NATIONAL BOARD CERTIFICATION AS AN ANCP (ANCC OR AANP), A CERTIFICATE OF AUTHORITY BY THE DELAWARE BOARD OF NURSING AS A CERTIFIED NURSE PRACTITIONER OR PHYSICIAN ASSOCIATE.
- MUST HAVE VALID PRESCRIPTIVE AUTHORITY AS ISSUED BY THE DELAWARE BOARD OF NURSING OR STATE MEDICAL BOARD OF DELAWARE.
- MUST HAVE DEA LICENSE OR BE ELIGIBLE TO APPLY FOR DEA NUMBER AND LICENSE.
- MUST HAVE A VALID BLS AND ACLS CARD UPON HIRE.
- CERTIFICATION FOR FCSS AND FORMAL AIRWAY COURSE REQUIRED WITHIN 1 YEAR OF HIRE.
- MINIMUM OF 2 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE IN CRITICAL CARE, REQUIRED.
