About the role
The Advanced Meter Field Investigator position plays a critical role in supporting the City of Tacoma’s Advanced Meter Infrastructure (AMI) system. This position involves first-level field triage of technical troubleshooting and customer service tasks.
Responsibilities
- Connecting/disconnecting meters
- Troubleshooting installed residential meters
- Performing various customer and billing services in the field
- Daily review of meter reading validity
- Retrieving meter interval data
- Handling service orders related to meter issues
- Replacing residential power meters
- Provisioning or validating residential water meter modules
Requirements
- Graduation from high school or equivalent
- Two (2) years of experience in a customer service environment
- Valid WA State Driver's License
Qualifications
- Physical requirements: Walking for long periods, lifting or pushing objects weighing up to 50 pounds, climbing, driving from site to site, working in an indoor and outdoor environment, and dealing with potentially abusive and hostile interactions with the public, animals, and environmental hazards such as chemicals and hazardous materials.

- Hourly Rate: $38.11 - $42.02
- Language premium may apply for select positions
