Advanced Manufacturing Technician
About the role
The Advanced Manufacturing Technician supports the assembly, testing, and continuous improvement of electro-mechanical machine production. This position focuses on developing, optimizing, and troubleshooting mechanical and electrical assembly processes, as well as ensuring machines meet performance, reliability, and quality standards before delivery.
Responsibilities
- Support the mechanical and electrical assembly of machines and production equipment according to engineering drawings and specifications.
- Aid in developing and refining assembly and testing procedures to improve efficiency, accuracy, and consistency.
- Set up and conduct machine functional tests, including calibration, performance validation, and troubleshooting.
- Collect and analyze test data to verify that machines meet required tolerances and operational parameters.
- Collaborate with engineers to design and implement assembly fixtures, test rigs, and process documentation.
- Identify and resolve assembly or testing issues, providing feedback to engineering for design or process improvements.
- Maintain accurate records of assembly steps, test results, and nonconformance reports.
- Support new product introductions by validating assembly and testing processes for prototype and production builds.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and root cause analysis projects.
- Ensure compliance with all safety and quality standards throughout assembly and testing operations.
- Train and assist production technicians in new product assembly, testing, and commissioning standards.
Requirements
- Preferred: Associate degree or higher in Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in machine assembly, testing, or manufacturing engineering technician roles.
- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude with hands-on experience assembling industrial machinery or automated systems.
- Familiarity with hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical control systems.
- Experience in troubleshooting mechanical and control issues during testing and commissioning.
- Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and test specifications (3DX, Windchill, AutoCAD or SolidWorks experience helpful).
- Prior experience troubleshooting, repairing, and performing planned maintenance on current Packsize equipment is highly desirable.
- Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and precision.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Comfortable using measurement tools, test equipment, and data acquisition systems.
- Able to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing production requirements.
- Basic Microsoft Office Suite experience, ability to learn and navigate ERP/MRP systems (SAP).
Qualifications

Pay
The salary range for this role is $78,000-$88,000 USD; however, Packsize considers several factors when determining compensation when extending a job offer, including but not limited to, the role being offered, the associated responsibilities, the candidate's prior work experience, education/training, and any special skills.
