Description
The MaineHealth EMS Base in Norway covers 9 towns, averaging around 5,500 calls per year, with about 70% being 911 calls and the remaining 30% being transport. The base runs 3 crews, 24/7, and has a 4th crew that operates on an as-needed basis in the winter. This EMS team collaborates closely with the ER staff at MaineHealth Stephens Hospital.
Shift Descriptions
- 24-Hour shift: 8A - 8A
- 16-Hour shift: 4P - 8A
- 12-Hour shifts: 7P/A - 7A/P or 8A/P - 8P/A
Qualifications
- Completion of EMT-Advanced course required.
- Current applicable state(s) EMT-Advanced license required.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Current BLS certification required.

Schedule
Schedules are usually made 2-3 months out, and EMS staff can expect 5 days off in a row every 4 weeks.
