Advanced EMT

The Advanced EMT provides high quality patient care and safe medical transport to sick and injured patients in all age groups, primarily in a non-emergent setting. Patient care will be consistent with approved treatment protocols. The Advanced EMT communicates and coordinates the patient’s care in an interdisciplinary model.

Education

• High School or GED, required.
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Successful completion of an approved Advanced EMT program (EMT-Intermediate prior to 2017), required.

Experience

• Minimum of one-year experience with a paid emergency services provider, preferred.
• Two years licensed driving experience, required.

Licensure/Certification

• Current North Carolina Advanced EMT (EMT-Intermediate prior to 2017), required.
• BCLS, required.
• ACLS, PALS and ITLS or PHTLS, preferred.

Additional Skills/Requirements

• Current and valid driver’s license required and must meet the requirements of the medical center’s insurance carrier.
• Must meet general hospital driving requirements.
• Annual EVO education is required to drive during emergency situations.
• Must be 19 years of age with zero points on driving record.
