About the role
This program is designed to attract individuals who wish to be sponsored for Glendale Community College’s Fire Operations I and II classes. Those chosen will be loaned most of the equipment needed for the classes and will be given the opportunity to participate in certain Goodyear Fire Department activities.
Responsibilities
- Gain experience working in a Fire Department by assisting department staff and personnel with non-emergency functions.
- Join the firefighters on a 12-hour ride along in which they can practice the skills they will need for the Fire Operations classes.
- Not allowed to participate as a Firefighter or EMT during emergency incidents.
Requirements
- 18 Years of Age
- Valid AZ Driver’s License
- Current EMT certification
- Current Hazmat certification
- Passing score on a CPAT exam within the last six months
Qualifications
To be considered, you must meet the minimum prerequisites for the Fire Operations program through Glendale College: 18 Years of Age, Valid AZ Driver’s License, Current EMT certification, Current Hazmat certification, and must have passed the CPAT exam within the last six months.

To be considered for the position, the applicant must complete a City of Goodyear application and meet all of the minimum requirements for the position. The deadline for returning the applications to the Human Resource Department will be listed on the recruitment packet.
