About the role
The Advanced EMT position in Buffalo, NY offers competitive starting pay at $23.94 per hour for full-time hires, based on experience. This role provides opportunities for career advancement through paid education support for obtaining a Paramedic license.
Responsibilities
- Conduct a thorough examination of patients and assist medical personnel.
- Provide immediate and efficient care to stabilize patients before transport.
- Maintain safe and efficient transportation of patients, monitoring continuously and administering appropriate care.
- Ensure orderly transfers to destinations and promptly return vehicles to service after use.
- In emergencies, perform extrication techniques and manage emergency scenes.
- Communicate with dispatch, other emergency services, and receiving hospitals.
- Follow FCC regulations for communication via radio and complete necessary reports.
- Inspect and maintain vehicle equipment, completing manifests and other forms as required.
- Precept new employees and students/observers as directed.
- Respect confidentiality of patient information and refuse to delegate tasks to unqualified personnel.
- Report needed repairs and refuse to participate in unethical practices.
Requirements
- Must meet physical requirements as outlined in the Standard Operating Procedure manual.
- Full-time employees must be available for recall in times of crisis.
- Must have an acceptable driving record as determined by the company.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
Qualifications
- Currently state registered as EMT-Advance.
- Current adult and child CPR certification from AHA.
- Class D driver’s license with F endorsement.
- Must meet clinical competency guidelines as published in the EMT-Basic text by Brady, with American Heart Association guidelines taking precedence.
Skills
Proficiency in emergency medical procedures, excellent communication skills, and the ability to handle stressful situations are essential.
