About the Role

Serves as a member of a multi-disciplinary treatment team providing 24-hour residential care to adults in the Residential SUD program. Working within a treatment milieu, the Adult Support Aid (ASA) manages the shift and facilitates the emotional, social, moral, and physical recovery of clients. The ASA works as part of a team to maintain a safe and secure environment that promotes growth and recovery, aiding clients throughout daily activities. The ASA reinforces competencies learned in the therapeutic setting so clients may function in less structured environments.

Organizational Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all Ramey-Estep/Re-group (RE) clients.
  • Support the mission, vision, and values of RE; adhere to the agency’s code of ethics, policies, and procedures.
  • Support functions that attain and maintain accreditation and compliance with regulatory agencies.
  • Facilitate positive interaction with clients and staff by exhibiting maturity, respect, teamwork, confidentiality, and cultural sensitivity.
  • Exhibit effective communication skills, including proper use of agency communication systems.
  • Participate in professional development programs to maintain competency.
  • Manage financial and physical resources to achieve RE’s mission.
  • Report incidents of abuse or potential abuse involving clients to appropriate authorities and RE.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the shift and handle issues in the daily treatment milieu through positive, informed decision-making, guided by RE’s Pillars of Success: Be Responsible, Be Respectful, Be Safe, and Show Care.
  • Provide guidance and assistance to clients throughout all facets of the program.
  • Establish boundaries and respond to clients’ needs with fairness, objectivity, firmness, care, and concern.
  • Observe behavior and emotional climate within the group and respond appropriately.
  • Maintain certification in Safe Crisis Management (SCM) and use these skills to ensure safety, minimizing physical management unless necessary.
  • Engage in recovery support by assisting in implementing learned skills through therapeutic programming, including relapse prevention, life skills, recreation, and psychoeducation.
  • Conduct assigned groups (educational assistance, vocational assistance, life skills, etc.).
  • Ensure clients focus on treatment goals.
  • Follow daily and weekly shift responsibilities to maintain a therapeutic living environment.
  • Communicate effectively with the treatment team and work within the designed treatment plan.
  • Serve as a positive role model through professional attitude, appropriate dress, language, social skills, and hygiene.
  • Keep accurate and timely records; write thorough and objective reports.
  • Provide transportation for clients to appointments as needed; drive agency vehicles safely and lawfully.
  • Teach grooming, hygiene, housekeeping, and life skills; help clients work through emotional and behavioral problems.
  • Maintain familiarity with emergency procedures (tornadoes, power outages, floods, snowstorms).
  • Administer drug screens and support drug screening companies during random screens.
  • Monitor visitations to ensure no contraband is brought into the program.
  • Comply with licensing standards, certification standards, employee handbook, client rights, and other rules of conduct.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Experience working with SUD population preferred.
  • Experience in management, leadership, and/or supervision preferred.
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Some positions may require a valid Driver’s License and insurability.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other applications used by the organization or regulatory agencies.
  • Ability to understand and relate to clients from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to read, write, and converse in English.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug screen, background screening, and TB skin test (or proof of negative chest x-ray).

Specialized Training & Licenses

  • Successful completion of Excellent Foundations training.
  • Complete crisis intervention training annually.
  • Complete at least 10 hours of alcohol and drug training annually.
  • Maintain 40 hours of annual training (including 16 hours of SCM).
  • Maintain 16 hours of Safe Crisis Management training (unless exempted by CEO).
  • Maintain CPR/First Aid training.

  • Regularly required to stand, sit, walk, talk, hear, reach with hands and arms, and use hands to finger, handle, and feel.
  • Regularly required to use a computer keyboard and mouse.
  • Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb stairs.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds or more.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision.

Working Conditions

  • Shifts vary depending on staffing needs; facility operates 24/7/365, requiring varied shift hours, including holidays and weekends.
  • Overtime may be required based on staffing needs.
  • Meals provided for staff when on campus.
  • Work with an intense, unpredictable population; possibility of verbal and physical aggression.
  • Fast-paced environment requiring quick decisions to handle crises.
  • Environment is both indoor and outdoor; may be loud and stressful.

Pay

Rate of pay for this position starts at $14.00/hourly.
