Adult Program Support Specialist - Part-Time

About the Role

Our Adult Day Program offers a social model with Arts, Games, Field Trips, and more! The Adult Day Program Support Assistant is primarily involved in daily interactions with participants to enhance and maintain their cognitive, physical, social, and emotional well-being through a variety of activities.

This is a part-time position with a schedule of Monday–Friday from 10:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. Hours are subject to change and may be adjusted to meet the team's needs.

Responsibilities

• Engage participants in activities of their choice while in the center, offering assistance proactively with an encouraging attitude.
• Familiarize yourself with each participant’s Individualized Care or Service Plan and assist with implementing their requested choices daily.
• Demonstrate understanding of Person-Centered Care principles—Respect, Dignity, Confidentiality, Responsibility, Coordination, Experience, and Goals—and apply them in daily interactions.
• Support the Activity Specialist in preparing, carrying out, and cleaning up after planned daily activities.
• Learn and understand the characteristics of the various diagnoses represented within the center.
• Stay informed of all legal requirements governing adult day services and participate in required training sessions.
• Assist participants at mealtime, with snacks, and other requested food or drink, including feeding assistance according to personal preferences, while adhering to CACFP guidelines.
• Assist participants with toileting, including transferring and changing undergarments or clothes if needed.
• Maintain all necessary records and reports, including daily and monthly notes, sign-in sheets, and incident reports.
• Develop and maintain supportive relationships with caregivers, providing advocacy and resources as needed.
• Act as a team player, providing leadership, assistance, and coverage for coworkers throughout the day.
• Attend all in-service training and meetings as requested by the Director.

Requirements

• High School Diploma (Associate’s Degree in Human Services or related field preferred).
• At least one year of experience working with individuals with disabilities.
• Commitment to the principles and values of Person-Centered Care philosophy.
• Ability to take initiative while encouraging participants to engage in daily activities.
• Creativity and patience in working with participants.
• Flexibility and openness to feedback.
• Ability to juggle multiple tasks throughout the day.
• Team-oriented mindset and willingness to adhere to Signal Centers’ policies and procedures.
• Ability to read, write, and use a computer.
• Effective communication with participants and coworkers.
• Must pass a TBI Fingerprint background check and complete a pre-employment physical with a TB skin test.
