Adult Education Career Counselor/Case Manager

About the Role

Under general supervision, the Adult Education Career Counselor / Case Manager provides comprehensive educational, vocational, and case management support to adult learners enrolled in adult literacy, high school equivalency (HSE/GED), ESOL, and workforce training programs. This position acts as a bridge between academic instruction, barrier reduction, and career placement to promote long-term self-sufficiency and retention.

Responsibilities

• Assess adult students' skills and barriers
• Provide individual and group career guidance
• Develop individualized career pathways
• Connect students with community resources, post-secondary education, or employment opportunities
• Conduct follow-up appointments/phone calls with students to assist with attendance, time management, and barriers to employment
• Instruction in employment skills
• Career counseling and planning
• Community outreach and networking
• Employment services and follow-up

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in counseling, psychology, or related field or equivalent experience working with adults seeking career counseling
• At least 6 months of counseling individuals or groups
• Knowledge of databases and community resources
• Excellent organizational, report writing, and communication skills
• Exceptional listening skills
• Willingness to help others
