About the Role
Under general supervision, the Adult Education Career Counselor / Case Manager provides comprehensive educational, vocational, and case management support to adult learners enrolled in adult literacy, high school equivalency (HSE/GED), ESOL, and workforce training programs. This position acts as a bridge between academic instruction, barrier reduction, and career placement to promote long-term self-sufficiency and retention.
Responsibilities
- Assess adult students' skills and barriers
- Provide individual and group career guidance
- Develop individualized career pathways
- Connect students with community resources, post-secondary education, or employment opportunities
- Conduct follow-up appointments/phone calls with students to assist with attendance, time management, and barriers to employment
- Instruction in employment skills
- Career counseling and planning
- Community outreach and networking
- Employment services and follow-up
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in counseling, psychology, or related field or equivalent experience working with adults seeking career counseling
- At least 6 months of counseling individuals or groups
- Knowledge of databases and community resources
- Excellent organizational, report writing, and communication skills
- Exceptional listening skills
- Willingness to help others
