Adult Education - Automotive Technology Instructor

About the role

Dutchess BOCES' Adult Learning Institute seeks qualified Automotive Technicians to teach adult learners foundational to advanced skills needed for careers in the automotive industry.

Responsibilities

• Teach adult learners through the Automotive Technology curriculum, covering Automotive 1 Basic Systems, Automotive 2: Troubleshooting and Problem Solving in Basic Systems, and Automotive 3 More Advanced Systems.
• Lead a cohort of adult students through classroom and laboratory sessions that include systems, tools, maintenance, repair, customer service, and shop safety.
• Provide instruction in employability skills such as resume and cover letter writing, interviewing, and other career-related topics.
• Prepare students to enter the workforce upon completion of the program.

Qualifications, Experience & Competencies

• At least 5 years of experience in the automotive field.
• An associate's degree is preferred, but experience and certifications will be considered over education.
• Knowledge, skills, and abilities relevant to automotive technology and teaching adults.

Evaluation

The chosen candidate's performance will be evaluated by the Program Coordinator.

Schedule

This is a part-time evening position, with classes scheduled two to three evenings per week for 3-4 hours per night, lasting two to three months each.

Pay

$30- $40 per hour (depending on experience).
