About the role
Dutchess BOCES' Adult Learning Institute seeks qualified Automotive Technicians to teach adult learners foundational to advanced skills needed for careers in the automotive industry.
Responsibilities
- Teach adult learners through the Automotive Technology curriculum, covering Automotive 1 Basic Systems, Automotive 2: Troubleshooting and Problem Solving in Basic Systems, and Automotive 3 More Advanced Systems.
- Lead a cohort of adult students through classroom and laboratory sessions that include systems, tools, maintenance, repair, customer service, and shop safety.
- Provide instruction in employability skills such as resume and cover letter writing, interviewing, and other career-related topics.
- Prepare students to enter the workforce upon completion of the program.
Qualifications, Experience & Competencies
- At least 5 years of experience in the automotive field.
- An associate's degree is preferred, but experience and certifications will be considered over education.
- Knowledge, skills, and abilities relevant to automotive technology and teaching adults.
Evaluation
The chosen candidate's performance will be evaluated by the Program Coordinator.
Schedule
This is a part-time evening position, with classes scheduled two to three evenings per week for 3-4 hours per night, lasting two to three months each.
Pay
$30- $40 per hour (depending on experience).
