Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage assigned clinical caseload of adults with neurogenic communication disorders through a prescribed intensive speech-language therapy plan utilizing state-of-the-art strategies with chronic aphasia within an intensive therapy model.
  • Supervise graduate student practicum.
  • Help assure quality of student clinical education and ethical provision of clinical services in compliance with appropriate standards for program accreditation and student credentialing.
  • Supervising student practicum in the Marquette University Speech and Hearing Clinic.
  • Provision of quality clinical services.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Master’s degree in speech-language pathology;
  • ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC / SLP);
  • Wisconsin DSPS license to practice speech-language pathology (or immediate eligibility);
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a clinical speech-language pathologist;
  • Completion of continuing education in clinical instruction/supervision.
  • Strong knowledge of neurogenic communication disorders, neuroplasticity, and classification of aphasias.
  • Experience applying evidence-based activities within an intensive model for persons with chronic aphasia.
  • Strong communication skills.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Prior student practicum or CF supervisory experience.
