Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage assigned clinical caseload of adults with neurogenic communication disorders through a prescribed intensive speech-language therapy plan utilizing state-of-the-art strategies with chronic aphasia within an intensive therapy model.
- Supervise graduate student practicum.
- Help assure quality of student clinical education and ethical provision of clinical services in compliance with appropriate standards for program accreditation and student credentialing.
- Supervising student practicum in the Marquette University Speech and Hearing Clinic.
- Provision of quality clinical services.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Master’s degree in speech-language pathology;
- ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC / SLP);
- Wisconsin DSPS license to practice speech-language pathology (or immediate eligibility);
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a clinical speech-language pathologist;
- Completion of continuing education in clinical instruction/supervision.
- Strong knowledge of neurogenic communication disorders, neuroplasticity, and classification of aphasias.
- Experience applying evidence-based activities within an intensive model for persons with chronic aphasia.
- Strong communication skills.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Prior student practicum or CF supervisory experience.
