Audiology Faculty

About the Role

The University of Southern Mississippi School of Speech and Hearing Sciences, a CAA-accredited program, invites applicants for a nine-month, Assistant Professor, tenure-track faculty position beginning August 2026, with an earlier start date negotiable.

Responsibilities

• Teach academic coursework in the Doctor of Audiology curriculum.
• Develop a line of research/scholarly activity.
• Serve on University/College/School committees.
• Serve as mentor to students and/or faculty members.
• Teach courses in the undergraduate Speech and Hearing Sciences program as needed.
• Develop a viable line of research activities that result in national presentations and refereed publications.
• Provide academic instruction at the graduate and undergraduate levels.
• Provide clinical supervision for doctoral-level audiology students.
• Provide services to the University community.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Au.D. and/or Ph.D. or EdD in audiology, hearing science, or a closely related professional field. ABD candidates will be considered.
• Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without the need for visa sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

• Expertise and/or extensive experience in one or more of the following areas: amplification, hearing science, anatomy and physiology, diagnostic audiology, vestibular assessment, electrophysiology, psychoacoustics, cochlear implants, educational audiology, pediatric audiology, or pediatric amplification.
• Experience in vestibular assessment and demonstrated ability to teach vestibular-focused courses.
• ASHA certification in audiology (CCC-A) and capability to meet state licensing requirements in Audiology.
