Essential Functions
- Affords assistance to the Director of Nursing (D.O.N) in planning, directing, and supervising the activities of the nursing staff.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local regulations regarding the Nursing Department.
- Develops, implements, and updates department policies and procedures as necessary or as directed.
- Schedules staff to meet the needs of the residents and regulatory requirements.
- Participates in annual surveys conducted by federal, state, and local agencies and assists in implementing corrective actions.
- Conducts annual performance reviews of subordinate staff and offers guidance and education.
- Provides counseling and disciplinary action to staff members as required.
- Trains and educates staff on established infection control and standard precaution practices.
- Maintains a safe and respectful environment for residents, ensuring their comfort, privacy, and dignity.
- Responds promptly and courteously to call lights in resident care areas.
- Communicates effectively with residents, visitors, families, peers, and supervisors.
- Attends and participates in departmental meetings and in-services.
Supervisory Responsibility
- Directly supervises all nursing staff, including registered nurses (R.N.), licensed practical nurses (L.P.N.), and certified nursing assistants (C.N.A.).
Required Education and Experience
- Associate's degree in science, nursing, or related field.
- Graduated from an accredited nursing program.
- Current state license as a Registered Nurse (R.N.).
- CPR certified.
- Two years of R.N. experience.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Five years of R.N. experience.
- Previous experience managing a Nursing department.
