NaphCare is hiring an Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to join our team of medical professionals in Buckeye, AZ, where we manage all aspects of healthcare for individuals who are currently incarcerated in the ASPC - Lewis.

About the role

As an Assistant Director of Nursing, you will work with the Director of Nursing, correctional staff, and other medical professionals to provide quality care to individuals in residence, while managing the nursing team and ensuring all work is performed in compliance with standards and adherence to regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with medical, mental health, and correctional staff to enhance quality patient care while maintaining a safe and secure work environment.
  • Assist the Director of Nursing in managing nursing staff, monitoring staffing needs, hiring and training new staff, and conducting performance evaluations.
  • Effectively communicate with healthcare and correctional staff to coordinate patient care with providers outside the facility.
  • Monitor compliance with site-specific and company policies and procedures, taking appropriate corrective action, and ensuring compliance with ACA and NCCHC standards.
  • Create and manage staffing schedules to ensure adequate nursing coverage for all shifts.
  • Ensure all healthcare-related equipment and supplies, including pharmaceuticals and over-the-counter medications, are appropriately stocked and available at all times.
  • Maintain current and accurate patient records and documentation.
  • Develop staff and conduct in-service training for new and current staff.
  • Conduct daily clinical rounds to observe and review documentation, orders, and patient care plans, ensuring objectives are understood and practiced by the nursing staff.
  • Assist in daily triage/sick call, minor medical/surgical procedures, and patient assessments.
  • Participate in all monthly, quarterly, and annual meetings as assigned and required for contract compliance.
  • Mitigate risks by proactively addressing potential hazards, including dangerous work conditions, health and safety concerns, and reporting issues to company leadership and facility management.

Requirements

  • Holds a current, unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse in Arizona.
  • Must possess an active BLS CPR Certification (AHA required).
  • Two years of clinical and progressive management experience providing comprehensive medical, dental, and mental healthcare services within a correctional healthcare or acute care setting.
  • Ability to manage complex staffing matrices and clinical supplies.
  • Excellent communication skills with proven experience managing and training medical staff.
  • Knowledge of nursing practice principles and techniques, occupational health and safety standards, infectious disease management, and applicable healthcare laws, regulations, and procedures for direct health care services.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information.
  • Integrity, professionalism, and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
  • Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening.

Physical Capabilities

  • Ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR.
  • Maintain good balance and endurance throughout a shift.

Pay

Pay rates range from $45.00 to $49.00 per hour based on shift, site needs, hire status, and experience.
