Admitting Registrar

About the Role

Interviews and registers patients for all outpatient and inpatient services according to Patient Registration policies and procedures as well as state and federal regulations.

The Registration/Access teams at Samaritan Health Services work closely with patients from the moment they arrive. We carefully and thoroughly check demographic information and serve as the gateway to the patient’s services within our facility. Often the first point of contact, we ensure each patient’s visit starts with a friendly smile and a positive interaction.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• One (1) year Admitting Switchboard experience in a health care setting preferred.
• Two (2) years direct customer service experience preferred.

Skills

• Customer Service: Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service, including needs assessment, meeting quality standards, and evaluating customer satisfaction.
• Communication: Effective written and oral communication skills to explain complex issues, exchange information, and tactfully discuss quality matters. Ability to perform group presentations and listen to complex information.
• Stress Tolerance/Self Control: Ability to maintain patience, composure, and control emotions in high-stress or difficult situations.
• Confidentiality: Knowledge of state and federal (HIPAA) laws pertaining to confidentiality of protected health information. Ability to comply with laws and maintain patient confidentiality.
• Adaptability/Flexibility: Ability to respond quickly to urgent medical situations, adjust actions in relation to others, and adapt care for diverse patient populations.
• Problem Solving: Ability to identify complex problems, review related information, develop creative solutions, and implement effective options.

• Frequently (34 - 66% of the time): Lift (floor to waist: 0"-36") 20 - 40 lbs, stand, walk on level surface, reach (forward or upward), pinch fingers, grasp hand/fist, finger dexterity, manual dexterity (hands/wrists).
