About the Role
Performs patient registration functions by interviewing patients or responsible parties to obtain identification and demographic information. Verifies insurance and other payer benefits, performs up-front collections, and determines eligibility. Arranges for patient admissions following hospital policies and procedures. Obtains signatures for financial responsibility and explains hospital financial obligations. Answers and directs telephone calls, assists with ordering office supplies, and prepares correspondence as requested.
Responsibilities
- Interview patients or responsible parties to collect identification and demographic information.
- Verify insurance and other payer benefits, and perform up-front collections.
- Determine patient eligibility and arrange hospital admissions following policies and procedures.
- Obtain signatures for financial responsibility and explain hospital financial obligations.
- Answer and direct telephone calls appropriately.
- Assist with ordering office supplies as needed or requested.
- Prepare letters and send correspondence as requested.
Requirements
- One to two years of medical or healthcare business office experience preferred.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Proficiency in computer skills.
- Good verbal communication skills in English and Spanish.
- Commitment to and adherence to the organization’s Compliance Program and Code of Conduct, including compliance with all policies and procedures, attendance at required training, and reporting of suspected compliance issues.
Qualifications
- High School diploma, GED, or higher education required.
- Complete CPI training within 6 months of hire and maintain certification thereafter.
