About the role

Oversees the recovery process, maintains knowledge and communicates policies and procedures, provides overall direction of operations related to admissions and referrals, develops, revises, and implements schedules for admission nurses, reviews nursing documentation and charting, accompanies staff to evaluate performance and knowledge, participates in staff meetings, department meetings, in-services, and other related activities, recommends and implements the fiscal budget for the assigned department, monitors budget variances, and reports findings.

Responsibilities

  • Communicates with healthcare providers regarding referrals, including doctors, hospitals, assisted living facilities, and skilled nursing facilities.
  • Interprets requirements to determine eligibility for unique or questionable cases.
  • Communicates with PCM teams to determine and coordinate staffing levels.
  • Oversees the referral process to ensure patient referral calls for hospice services are appropriately answered and processed.

  • Knowledge of nursing skills in the performance of duties in compliance with the legal and ethical parameters established and based on the level of education and certification attained by the employee. [Required]
  • Knowledge of documenting within an electronic medical record. [Required]
  • Knowledge of basic to intermediate application of Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook as well as internet software. [Required]
  • Knowledge of third party reimbursement and cost containment. [Required]
  • Knowledge of basic supervisory practices and procedures. [Required]
  • Ability to conduct interviews of prospective employees. [Required]
  • Ability to follow standard precaution guidelines for infection control, including when providing patient care. [Required]

Qualifications

  • Associate's of Nursing [Required]
  • Bachelor's of Nursing [Preferred]
