About the role

The Admissions Counselor, Military Affiliated, serves as a primary lead to students with a military affiliation, focusing on active duty students, veterans, and dependents/spouses of military members. This role also serves as a liaison to the Reserve Officer Training Corp (ROTC) program.

Responsibilities

  • Guides prospective students through the college application process.
  • Evaluates applications and promotes educational programs to support enrollment and student success.
  • Develops an annual territory management plan, implementing strategies and tactics to increase enrollment within their assigned territory.
  • Works closely with Military Science cadre and staff, the Military Science Human Resource Administrator, and university academic advisors to support student success from recruitment through graduation and commissioning.
  • Works closely with the Undergraduate Admissions Office to represent Western Illinois University to a variety of constituents.
  • Travels and represents Western Illinois University.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Strong communication, active listening, empathy, and rapport-building abilities to effectively interact with diverse student populations.
  • Ability to manage multiple applications, schedule interviews, and coordinate events efficiently.
  • Demonstrated skill in evaluating student qualifications and aligning them with institutional requirements.
  • Familiarity with CRM software, admissions management systems, and standard office tools like Microsoft Office or Google Workspace.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in admissions, counseling, education, or customer service.

Rank and salary range: \$46,452 - \$52,140.
