Admissions Coordinator Patient Access – Welcome Center Inpatient unit

Location: 47 Long Lots Rd, Westport, CT. Evening and weekend work required.

About the role

Admissions Coordinator conducts interviews and assessments for potential admissions at St. Vincent’s Medical Center, a 473-bed community teaching hospital and 76-bed inpatient psychiatric facility in Westport. St. Vincent’s is part of Hartford HealthCare, Connecticut’s most comprehensive healthcare network.

Responsibilities

• Provides admissions and intake services to patients and potential patients.
• Responds to telephone inquiries from people seeking mental health care or information about mental health-related services.
• Admits patients to the hospital and registers outpatients with appropriate physician orders.
• Documents calls and related admission information.
• Identifies insurance information and collaborates exchange of information with UR Department.
• Reviews all paperwork accompanying patients to ensure adherence with hospital and regulatory policies.
• Maintains records for monthly quality data submission such as referrals and discharges.
• Supports clinical team as backup for group therapy or crisis intervention.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in a mental health-related field required.
• Connecticut licensure in LCSW, LMFT, LPC, LADC, or Psychologist preferred.
• Two years of related experience in behavioral health, particularly inpatient, required (internship experiences applicable).
• Experience in completing assessments in an emergency department or other acute setting desirable.
