Admissions Application Reader

Employee's effective start date: August 4, 2026. This is a seasonal, temporary position lasting approximately three to four months (July through December), with possible extension based on application volume and departmental needs.

About the Role

Admissions Application Readers will recommend which applicants should advance in the admissions process to the Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine. Readers will holistically review written application materials, carefully evaluate academic preparation, assess an applicant’s exposure to the medical profession, as well as their desire to serve others and their communities.

Responsibilities

• Carefully read and make holistic evaluations on two application files per hour.
• Conduct application review online, allowing for flexible working hours.
• Complete work outside of the admission office.
• Attend an on-campus training session and regularly scheduled meetings with other readers and the department supervisor.
• Exhibit excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills in a diverse environment.
• Maintain a professional and confidential approach to the review process.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and training.
• Strong time management skills.
• Strong reading and writing skills.
• Strong analytical and evaluation skills.
• Basic computer literacy and access to the internet.

Qualifications

• Some experience in higher education, secondary school teaching, admissions, or the medical profession is preferred but not required.
