About the role

As a Sr. Payroll Administrator at StandardAero, you will play a crucial part in the payroll team, ensuring accurate and timely payroll delivery. This role involves processing complex hourly and salaried payrolls, maintaining compliance with various policies, and providing guidance to team members.

Responsibilities

  • Calculate hours, compute and deduct statutory and company required withholdings using a computerized payroll system, Dayforce.
  • Execute payroll processes in a highly manual environment, requiring extensive data validation, spreadsheet analysis, reconciliations, manual imports, exception management, and cross-system balancing.
  • Perform payroll audits and reconciliations to identify and resolve discrepancies related to earnings, deductions, taxes, benefits, and timekeeping data.
  • Balance payroll to appropriate general ledger accounts.
  • Ensure payroll activities comply with federal, state, provincial, and company policies while maintaining accurate payroll records and supporting audit requests.
  • Compile, prepare, and distribute statistical reports, statements, and summaries for management and government agencies.
  • Absorb year-end payroll activities, including W-2 preparations, audits, and corrections.
  • Maintain data integrity of the payroll system, ensuring timely updates for hires, terms, pay changes, and tax setup.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, time, tax setup, or policies in a timely and professional manner.
  • Collaborate with HR, Benefits, HR Technology Services, Finance, and other internal partners to resolve issues and ensure accurate payroll results.
  • Support special projects, process improvements, and team initiatives as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or comparable education and/or work experience required.
  • 5+ years of hands-on payroll experience in a computerized payroll and HRIS environment.
  • Working knowledge of basic federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations.
  • Experience supporting complex multi-state payroll environments, including payroll tax validation, tax setup review, reconciliation activities, and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Excellent organization, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage a high-volume workload accurately.

Preferred Characteristics

  • Completion of bachelor's degree or other courses in accounting, bookkeeping or payroll administration.
  • Preferred certification: Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FCP).
  • Previous experience with Dayforce payroll solutions.
  • Experience processing Canadian payroll.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills (v-lookups, pivot tables).
