Administrative Support Intern
The Engineering Services Office in the Applied Research Laboratory at Penn State is seeking a self-motivated, positive, customer service oriented and quality conscious Administrative Support Intern to join our Facilities Operations & Maintenance team.
About the role
This will be a year-round position. You will work up to 20 hours per week during the semester, and up to 40 hours a week during the summer.
Responsibilities
- Answer phones and greet visitors
- Assist with assigning, closing, and commenting on facilities work orders
- Scan documents for purchasing and travel expense reconciliation
- Update building door cores
- Verify key inventory and records
- Deliver items, such as paper, keys, etc., as requested
- Aid Trades as requested
- Aid in reorganization of computer shared folders
Requirements
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office
- Interest in learning job related software
- Success in effectively working in an office environment that utilizes diverse communication and organizational skills
- Professionalism with a high commitment to customer service
- Able to take initiative and effectively manage time, prioritize, and problem solve
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to exercise discretion and confidentiality

Pay
This is a paid internship located fully on-site in State College, PA; relocation and housing are not provided.
Schedule
You will work up to 20 hours/week during the fall and spring semesters and 40 hours/week over the summer.
Background checks/clearances
Employees must be eligible to obtain a government security clearance, participate in the ARL drug testing program, and comply with electronic and physical monitoring requirements applicable to federal contractors. ARL operates in a secure information environment involving Unclassified, Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), and Classified information. Personal electronic devices brought onsite must be registered and may be restricted from certain areas.
