Compensation
Hourly Pay Range: $18.44 - $19.85
Salary can vary depending upon education, experience, or qualifications.

Position Summary & Responsibilities
The position (K0234883) CLIA: Provides administrative, clerical, and operational support to the CLIA program. Maintains and enters application information into the CMS Qies national database of Kansas clinical laboratories. Queries this database to answer client questions. Interpret data from FDA's CLIA page (https://www.accessdata.fda.gov/scripts/cdrh/cfdocs/cfCLIA/search.cfm) to ensure testing complexity is consistent with certificate type. Prepares documents from the CMS database for the enforcement of the CLIA laboratory (42 CFR 493) regulations. Reviews application submissions for completeness. Interacts with KHEL CLIA staff to facilitate communications between staff and clients regarding CLIA issues. Interacts with federal CLIA staff to resolve payment disputes. Interacts with clinical laboratory clients across Kansas to provide clear guidance on required forms, deadlines, and program processes. Maintains accurate physical and electronic records. Manages shared email inbox and phone lines to route technical questions appropriately. Serves as the point-of-contact for external Clinical Laboratory inquiries via phone and email. Communicates verbally and in writing to the public on specific processes or procedures. Responding to inquiries from clinical labs necessitates knowledge of medical and regulatory terminology in order to properly assess the inquiry.
The position (ELIPO): Provides administrative, clerical, and operational support to the Environmental Certification Program. Maintains the official accreditation status of all environmental labs enrolled in the program to ensure the availability of court-defensible environmental analysis. Provide clear guidance on required forms, deadlines, and program processes. Review application submissions for completeness. Prepare application files for technical review. Enter, update, and maintain program data in tracking systems. Maintain accurate physical and electronic records. Manage shared inbox and phone lines to route technical questions appropriately. Responding to inquiries from environmental labs necessitates knowledge of environmental and regulatory terminology in order to properly assess the inquiry. Serve as the point-of-contact for external Environmental Laboratory inquiries via phone and email. Manages and coordinates correspondence for quarterly certification renewals.
Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
- FLEET: Coordinates daily operations for KHEL's vehicle fleet. Serves as point of contact for all KDHE staff regarding KHEL's fleet of vehicles. Schedules vehicle reservations and records vehicle return data. Maintains travel gas cards. Tracks vehicle usage, mileage, and overall operating status. Schedules maintenance and repair as needed with approved vendors. Generates reports on fleet utilization for budgeting needs. Administrative processes for surplus decommissioning and replacement of vehicles.
- Other: Places and tracks office supply orders for the Quality and Certification section.
Qualifications
- Education: High School, GED
- Licensing & Certification: Valid Driver's License - Incumbent is required to have and maintain a valid driver's license when operating a state vehicle, a private vehicle, or a rental vehicle for the benefit of the State.
- Minimum Qualifications: Two years of experience in general office, clerical and administrative support work. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.
- Preferred Qualifications: Technical/Trade/Vocational School or Associate's Degree or Bachelor's degree in business, admin studies Knowledge of travel voucher preparation procedures Knowledge of record keeping, reporting methods and billing Ability to apply and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures Demonstrates effective communication techniques in interaction with others Ability to record, file and transmit information Demonstrates outstanding organizational skills Ability to adapt to change and difficult situations Ability to multi-task Knowledge working in multiple databases maintaining accurate records and/or data familiarity with provider credentialing processes knowledge of medical billing processes familiarity with medical terminology
Post-Offer, Pre-employment Requirements
- HIPPA, blood borne pathogen, as well as many other safety trainings are required to be completed after hire.
- Kansas Tax Clearance Certificate: A valid Kansas Tax Clearance Certificate is a condition of employment for all employees of the State of Kansas. Applicants (including non-residents) who receive a formal job offer for a State job, are required to obtain a valid Tax Clearance within ten (10) days of the job offer.
