About the role
The Department of Justice and the United States Attorneys' Offices provide routine technical and administrative support in various administrative program areas. Positions may be filled using this announcement.
Responsibilities
- Answering telephone calls and visitors to the office.
- Greeting and directing visitors.
- Producing written documents utilizing office automation software.
- Maintaining files.
- Providing assistance and processing support in procurement activities.
- Preparing travel authorizations and travel vouchers for reimbursement to traveler.
- Facilitating access to sensitive material while serving as the Grand Jury Transcript Coordinator.
- Maintaining and extracting data from automated docketing databases and systems.
- Scheduling appointments, inviting participants, and determining location of meetings.
- Aiding in maintaining property records and conducting inventory.
- Assisting in maintaining property records and conducting inventory.
- Performing other challenging administrative responsibilities in support of the mission.
Requirements
- Conditions of employment: Must be a U.S. Citizen or National. Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation. Must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable. May be required to complete a one year probationary period.
- Qualifications: To qualify for the position of Administrative Services Assistant (Office Automation), you must meet the qualification requirements listed below:
- GS-5: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-4 level; or four years of education above the high school level; or a combination of both specialized experience and education as explained below.
- GS-6: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-5 level.
- Specialized experience examples: Providing clerical support in an office setting by answering customer phone calls; greeting and directing visitors; producing written documents utilizing office automation software; maintaining files.
- Combining Education and Experience: Successfully completed post-high school education may be used to meet the total one year of specialized experience requirement equivalent to the GS-4 grade level.
- Typing: Must type at least 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
- Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP): Provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies.
- Career Transition Assistance Plan (CTAP): Provides eligible surplus and displaced competitive service employees in the Department of Justice with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies.
- Educational Requirements: All academic degrees and coursework must be completed at a college or university that has obtained accreditation or pre-accreditation status from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Foreign education must be comparable to that received in an accredited educational institution in the United States.
