About the role

The Tennessee Department of Health (TDH) incorporates its values into daily work to achieve its mission, live its vision, and address strategic priorities of prevention and access. This position provides broad administrative support for the Division of Family Health and Wellness in Nashville, TN. Under general supervision, the incumbent performs professional staff administrative work of considerable difficulty in support of line operations, functioning at the lead level and potentially supervising subordinate staff. The role involves considerable participation in developing, implementing, and evaluating policies and procedures with significant impact on the department or the public. This classification differs from Administrative Services Assistant 3 (advanced working level with less scope in policy development, fiscal control, and personal contacts) and Administrative Services Assistant 5 (independently performs very complex administrative duties with broad scope, often managing fiscal services and budgetary activities of greater size and complexity). Because responsibilities are shared across a small team, this role requires exceptional flexibility, strong organizational skills, and the ability to quickly adapt to changing priorities while ensuring continuity of operations.
