The Samueli School of Engineering educates more than 4,600 students (3,728 undergraduates and 961 graduates) with an integrative approach that blends fundamentals, research, and hands-on experience. The School's faculty members are leaders in their disciplines, achieving worldwide recognition for their research and dedicated teaching. The School includes six academic departments and pursues research that is timely, socially responsible, and cutting-edge, working in partnership with industry, state, and federal agencies. Current research thrusts include Communications and Information Technology, Energy and Sustainability, Human Health, and Advanced Manufacturing and Materials.
The Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) is one of six academic departments in the Samueli School of Engineering. With 40 faculty, approximately 1,136 undergraduates, and 321 graduate students, EECS is home to nearly one-third of the engineering student body and has internationally renowned faculty. The department is committed to an integrated view of electrical engineering, ranging from microscopic devices to architectures, communications, and software design.
About the Role
Under the supervision of the Department Chair and Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), the Administrative Operations Analyst (AOA) independently conducts responsible and complex administrative analysis and supports a wide range of assignments for the department. The AOA serves as high-level executive support to the Chair, coordinating administrative tasks including complex calendaring, scheduling, and special projects. Responsibilities encompass internal and external communications with students, staff, faculty, advisors, and others using a variety of platforms.
This position supports the CAO and department administration with operational analysis, planning, and coordination of general department operations, including space and equipment management, procurement, reimbursement needs, key management, and office logistics. The AOA assists with accreditation requirements, such as course materials collection, meeting attendance, and related communications. Additional duties include resource management, confidential administrative assignments, project support, student activities coordination, quarterly faculty advising sessions, event coordination, and financial/budgetary planning and analysis.

- Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information, exercising discretion in handling sensitive matters.
- Ability to work independently, follow through on assignments with minimal direction, and take initiative as necessary.
- Ability to collaborate in a team environment in support of the goals and mission of the Department, School, and Campus.
- Demonstrated experience (or ability to be quickly trained) with common organization-specific and other computer applications, including email, Google Suite (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Forms, Sites), Zoom, DocuSign, Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, SharePoint), Adobe Acrobat, and UC/UCI-specific applications.
- Familiarity with University, School, and Department administrative organization, policies, procedures, and practices, and the ability to apply them appropriately.
- Ability to understand and analyze complex financial budgets and retrieve data from University financial systems.
- Working knowledge of budgets and accounting; experience using Kuali Financial System (KFS), UCPath, ZotPortal, and other University systems.
- Knowledge of UCI campus resources for students, faculty, and staff, including the Office of the Ombuds, Human Resources, Counseling Center, Career Pathways, Disability Services Center, etc.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
Preferred Qualifications
- Working knowledge of student academic hiring practices and procedures.
- 3-5 years of administrative experience supporting an academic department.

Pay
The expected pay range for this recruitment is $32.74–$35.81 per hour.
