ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER III Reserve Officer Coordinator
Main Purpose of Job
The main purpose of the Natural Resources Police Reserve Officer Program Coordinator is to oversee the recruitment, training, time keeping, scheduling assignments and performance evaluation of volunteers who assist NRP’s permanent staff.
Position Duties
- Coordinate the recruitment, training, ongoing assignments and evaluations of volunteers for the NRP Reserve Officer Program.
- Manage the administrative details associated with the program, prepare reports and work with his/her counterpart responsible for other areas of the State.
- Candidates may be required to work in all weather conditions, weekends and shifts longer than eight (8) hours.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
- Experience: Three years of administrative staff or professional work.
- Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year up to two years of the required experience.
- Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from a college or university for the required experience.
- Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work that included the regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans, policies, rules or regulations or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
Desired Or Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of Conservation practices.
- Knowledge of Boating practices.
- Experience working with volunteers.
- Understanding of volunteer motivations and processes is preferred.
- Demonstrated community involvement and/or volunteerism.
- Previous experience in event planning or project management is necessary.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Comfortable with spokesperson and presentation role.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, internet, scanner, email and phone.
- Demonstrate ability to drive a truck pulling a utility trailer or vessel.
- Demonstrate leadership on project teams preferable with a volunteer group or organization.
- Demonstrate experience in managing benefits, maintaining resources, and tracking the service of approximately 100-200 volunteers.
- Able to adjust to changing conditions or priorities.
- Proven ability to proofread documents.
- Demonstrated high proficiency in Excel and proficiency in other Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint and Outlook) and internet software.
- Familiarity with databases and social media.
- Willingness to travel statewide as needed with a provided vehicle.
