Administrative Law Judge
NYC Department of Finance (DOF) is responsible for administering the tax revenue laws of the city fairly, efficiently, and transparently to instill public confidence and encourage compliance while providing exceptional customer service. The Adjudication Division conducts hearings on all parking and camera violations issued in New York City, including in-person hearings at Business Centers and hearings by mail, web, and mobile app. Hearing Officers adjudicate parking tickets, hear appeals of parking ticket determinations, and may work on commercial adjudications for tickets issued to commercial vehicles.
About the role
Selected candidates will report to the Adjudication Division and may be assigned to any of the Business Centers located in the five boroughs. Hearing Officers are required to work three days a week and must be available to work any day Monday through Friday. Candidates must be interviewed and approved by the NYC Department of Investigation (DOI).
Responsibilities
- Adjudicate parking and camera violations issued in New York City.
- Conduct in-person, mail, web, and mobile app hearings.
- Hear appeals of parking ticket determinations.
- Conduct hearings and appeals on tickets issued to commercial vehicles (special unit for Commercial Adjudications).
Requirements
- A license to practice law in the State of New York, which must be maintained.
- Three years of recent satisfactory relevant legal experience subsequent to admission to the bar.

Pay
$65.43 per hour.
