About the role

Organizes and coordinates multiple functions in the Laboratory Department. Performs patient registration and accessions lab orders as appropriate. Centrifuges and processes blood to prepare for shipping and testing in all laboratory areas. Responds to phone inquiries in a timely manner and refers problems to the appropriate supervisor. Performs other clerical duties including maintaining specimen logs, pending lists, centrifuge maintenance and cleaning, and support communication amongst the team.

  • Meets all personnel standards in governing, regulatory and accreditation requirements for clinical laboratory testing
  • Conducts education and training for new personnel, fellows, residents, students and visitors within the Laboratory scope of practice
  • Is aware of the role of the position and its potential impact on patient care, the work unit, the department and facility operations
  • Works effectively inter or intra-departmentally and with teams to meet patient needs and organizational goals
  • Participates in quality and process improvement projects
  • Attends and participates in continuing education opportunities to maintain relevancy and currency in professional practices and standards
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High school or GED required
  • 1-3 years experience preferred
