About the role

The Administrative Director of Ambulatory Operations will have strategic and operational oversight of practice for designated service lines within the department. Reporting to the AVP, Practice Administrator, the director oversees administrative, operational, strategic planning, financial, and development activities of designated service lines across North Florida and all functions.

This role is responsible for establishing and managing a cohesive administrative and operational infrastructure for cross-disciplinary specialties, including physician practice and hospital partnerships. Key responsibilities include developing and implementing business plans to support growth and financial success, improving patient and family service experiences, ensuring patient and associate safety, and fostering collaborative relationships across Nemours.

In collaboration with specialty Chairs, Chiefs, and Nursing Leaders, the Director represents administration and ensures compliance with all applicable laws and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

Leadership, Strategy, and Planning

  • Develop, recommend, and implement financially viable business and organizational models that align the interests of designated specialties, business units, clinical disciplines, and providers.
  • Lead the strategic growth of assigned service lines, formulating and gaining approval for strategic business plans and objectives.
  • Identify, develop, and implement new and enhanced outpatient clinical programs and services to achieve growth goals.
  • Develop specialty outreach strategic plans in collaboration with business development.
  • Ensure strategic and program planning for specialty initiatives are linked to operational and capital budgeting, facilities development, and long-range master planning.
  • Establish marketing and promotional programs to enhance awareness and preference for specialty programs among key customer constituencies.
  • Develop, communicate, and implement goals and objectives at all North Florida campus and satellite locations, ensuring alignment with corporate strategies.
  • Establish cooperative working relationships with practice and partner hospital management teams to advance shared goals.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with community and health agencies and partner institutions.

Operations and Financial Management

  • Provide administrative and operational oversight of all divisions, programs, and sites within the specialties in collaboration with Chairs and Chiefs.
  • Develop, monitor, and meet operational and capital budget financial goals for all areas of responsibility.
  • Recommend qualified personnel and resources (including space) to support services, sites, and planned growth.
  • Develop, interpret, and implement policies and procedures that guide and support service provision.
  • Collaborate with providers and clinical teams to deliver quality, family-centered care in a cost-effective and efficient manner.
  • Monitor clinical operations and quality improvement initiatives, including compliance with efficiency benchmarks (e.g., charge capture, RVU productivity, chart documentation).
  • Participate in the organization’s service excellence and continuous improvement mission.
  • Coordinate and integrate intradepartmental and interdepartmental services.
  • Communicate with physicians and providers to assess the effectiveness of service delivery systems.
  • Ensure providers, divisions, and programs understand clinic programs on Safety Management, Quality Assurance, and Improvement.
  • Identify and resolve problems or present recommended actions to leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree (required).
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in healthcare management (5+ years preferred).
  • Demonstrated record of progressively responsible administrative experience in healthcare.
  • Pediatric or specialty-related experience (preferred).
  • Proven track record of collaborating with physician, nursing, and administrative leadership.
  • Demonstrated success in applying performance improvement methodologies and project team facilitation.
  • Relevant experience in presenting written and oral materials, interacting with medical leadership, and completing self-directed projects.
