Job Responsibilities

As the Administrative Coordinator II, you will serve as the Judicial Processing/Privacy Coordinator of Inpatient Services (IS). You will supervise and direct clerical personnel engaged in performing legally mandated administrative duties required in the commitment due process proceeding and court-ordered discharge of patients within IS (BPH, Forensic, WSHPI, and MV).

You will develop and/or assist IS Privacy Officer in the development, implementation, auditing and monitoring of HIPAA/Privacy Practices for IS to include, but not limited to, review and reporting of IS policies and procedures.

You will serve on the Inpatient Compliance Committee. Manage and supervise the employees in the Judicial Processing Department. Establish and maintain a good working rapport with the probate judges and other court officials.

You will independently conduct confidential investigations and complex special assignments related to IS HIPAA privacy issues. Maintain current knowledge of applicable federal/state privacy laws and accreditation standards.

You will serve as liaison for IS with SCOMH Legal Counsel regarding general legal issues involving patients. Assist IS Privacy Officer to ensure that databases are complete, accurate, secure and available only to authorized personnel.

You will assist in development of assessment tools to be used to successfully create an auditing process in HIPAA Privacy that can be implemented and maintained throughout IS Program service area. Coordinate, develop and participate in a multifaceted educational and training program design that focuses on privacy of PH under HIPAA issues as necessary.

Minimum And Additional Requirements

  • A high school diploma and relevant experience in business management, public administration or administrative services.
  • A bachelor's degree may be substituted for required work experience.
  • One (I) year of responsible clerical or administrative experience; or high school graduate and five (5) years of clerical or administrative experience.

Additional Requirements

  • Must possess a valid SC driver's license and be commissioned by the State of SC as a Notary Public.
  • Must have the physical ability to access patient care areas on all IS campuses and be able to walk, stand, climb stairs, reach, pull, push, bend, stoop and lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Be able to work with family members and other professionals.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A bachelor's or associate degree in health information management, business or related field.
  • Five (5) years' experience with knowledge and/or experience in HIPAA Privacy Law, Release of Information, state and federal regulation related to privacy issues or Judicial Processing.
  • Three (3) years of supervisory experience.
  • Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.
